2006 News & Events

December News

Just because the holidays are fast approaching doesn't mean we've slowed down any!  Several CP students and horses began the month of December in Olympia attending a Poorman's schooling show.  Everyone had lots of fun and got more and more excited about the new year and new season.  Among those attending were Royal Scandal whose owner Miranda Rickert was unable to ride, but Tim managed to earn Champion honors in English Pleasure!  Also attending were "Chase" and "Newman" with youth riders Chrissy Girard and Sam Gilliland — both girls and horses are fairly new to the showring, but sure did a great job!  Saddlebred mare PF Ed's Elegant Lady owned by Patty Chapman was ridden English by Jessica Blair — those two are becomming quite the duo!  Tim also took student Michelle Parker and NSH "AJ" and they had some lovely rides as well.  Congratulations to everyone on their accomplishments!

Congratulations also to Scottie & Kimberly Wright of Lazy Hawk Ranch in Ione, Oregon on the sale of both of their pinto weanling fillies!  They are producing some gorgeous horses and we look forward to seeing what else will come from their farm and breeding program in the future.

November News

Congratulations to Tim and Rachel Wigren and their half-Arabian mare Lucky Gold Penny+ on earning her Legion of Honor this year.  The gorgeous mare is in foal to WH Alimanor for 2007 and earned her points in Country Pl JTR & Open as well as in Sport Horse In Hand ATH and Open.  CONGRATS!  In addition, Rachel's palomino half-Arabian gelding Twist and Shout FCF++// earned his Legion of Merit in the summer thanks to final halter points obtained in the Sport Horse In Hand division.  2006 was a great year for Buffy who earned both his Legion of Excellence and Legion of Merit.

Big Congratulations go to Angela Burckhard and her Saddlebred/Pinto gelding Class Dismissed in this their first full year on the pinto circuit the pair ranked 16th in the Nation in Amateur All Around (with without any western points!).  In addition to their Top 20 ranking they were 2nd in Amatuer English Saddleseat, Amateur Ideal Pinto Driving, Amatuer Ideal English, and Amatuer Show Hack, 4th in Amateur Halter Geldings Saddle/Pl type, 6th in Amateur Pl Driving all Types and 10th in Open Show Hack.  What a year!  In addition, with the help of trainer Tim Wigren, "Skeeter" also earned 1st in the Nation in Open Ideal Driving and Open Pl Driving, 2nd in Open Saddle Type Halter, Open English Saddle Type, Open Ideal English Saddle/Pl Type, and 15th in Open 3 gaited/Park.  Congratulations and we look forward to another blast in 2007!

Congratulations to Miranda Rickert and her Arabian gelding, Royal Scandal, on a very successful second show.  The pair are new to the show ring with CP, but have been turning in lovely rides and coming away with many blue ribbons and other high placings.  The pair recently showed in McMinnville, Oregon and earned several blues in English Pleasure, as well as placing well in equitation.  The classes were all good sized and we are proud of Miranda and "Blazer" and their hard work and efforts.

Congrats to Meghan McCaige and her half-Arabian gelding "Cocomo" on a successful open show held recently.  The pair earned high placings in English Pleasure as well as Meghan placing in Equitation and even Western Pleasure!  Congrats to them both on their accomplishments.  Rider Alex Pierce also showed with paint gelding "Ti" for the first time and though I didn't hear exact placings I know we'll be seeing more of them in the ring in the future.

Also, several CP members were recently seen at a Tommy Garland Clinic in Enumclaw, WA. There was lots to learn and see and Tim came back re-energized and excited for 2007.  Among those in attendance were Linda Boire and Melinda Willits and their half-Arabians "Norman" & "Dooney".  Other CP members who were there to watch included: Tami Todd, Tim, Steve Harding & Julie Welsand, Scott & Barbara Marcinkowski & Lisa Hubbard.

Congratulations also go out to Patty Chapman on the sale of her purebred gelding EA Aristansk to the Nesbitt family.  This will be mom, Cheryl's, horse and we look forward to seeing her join daughters Ellie & Nicolette in the ring in the future.  This will be a wonderful home for the talented grey gelding.

NWEEC Halloween Schooling Show

Congratulations to two students who recently attended a Halloween schooling show at NWEEC in Boring, OR.  Lesson student Jessica Blair showed Patty Chapman's mare PF Ed's Elegant Lady to numerous blues in halter and hunter pl.  This was Jessica's first time showing "Ellie" and boy did they look good together!  Also attending for her first show with CP was Miranda Rickert and her Arabian gelding Royal Scandal.  The pair also showed in hunter pl and came away with several ribbons including blue.  We are so proud of both teams and look forward to continued working with them in the future.  Congratulations to you both!

Pacific Rim Show

Team CP had a fun and busy weekend to close out the 2006 Class "A" show season at the Pacific Rim show in Olympia in mid-October.  Several show ring debuts were made and we are so proud of all of our horses and riders and thank everyone for their support.  Congratulations to Linda Boire and "Norman" making their western pleasure debut as did her daughter Melinda on "Dooney".  What fun it was to watch mom and daughter in the ring together.  Also debuting was eight-year-old Sara Beeks in walk/jog pleasure and equitation.  Another new pair were Angela Nemjo and "Jake" who came home with numerous awards.  Tim was also busy showing stallions "Shahqwave", "Bonito" and "Dday", all of whom did us and their owners (Lisa Hubbard, Steve Harding/Julie Welsand and Barbara Marcinkowski respectively) proud.  "Gypsy", owned by Linda Boire, also debuted under saddle in show hack.  Tim was more than a little busy, but as usual everyone chipped in and helped out.  Now we spend time gearing up for 2007, starting the youngsters and attending schooling shows.

SWAA Halloween Open Show

Several of Tim's students recently attended the SWAA annual Halloween open show and came home with plenty of awards.  Jeff Wallace and "Packer" were quite the duo in western pleasure as were Alex Pierce and "Sunni".  CC Swanson showed her new gelding "Shadow" while Nicolette Nesbit showed her new mare "Sierra" as sister Ellie showed "Chrissy".  Brynne Kilgore came away a winner with "Zan" and Tim showed Scottie and Kimberly Wright's two-year-old Arabian stallion "Night" to Champion honors in halter. Rhonda Carey and her granddaughter also met Tim at the show and had great fun on their horses.  I know Rhonda's gelding is "Monte" and apologize for not knowing her granddaughter's horse.  Congratulations to all who showed!

Sport Horse Nationals

Team CP just returned from their first trip to Sport Horse Nationals which were held in Nampa, Idaho this year and are slated to return in 2008 and 2010 as well.  The horses all performed beautifully and owners and handlers alike enjoyed the lovely Idaho Horse Park as well as the other exhibitors and the show staff.  The atmosphere was laid back and the classes were varied with exhibitors from all parts of North America competing for top honors.  We were very fortunate to have a mostly dry week though it was a bit windy at times, but the weather cooperated by the end of the show leaving Tim with reddened cheeks as a reminder of the trip.  Although we didn't return with as many Top Tens as we may have liked (we did manage several 13th and 14th places), our horses all looked great and performed equally as well.  We are proud to annouce, however, that two-year-old Arabian colt AMK Bonito Boy owned by Julie Welsand and Steve Harding was awarded Top Ten honors (third overall) in the two year old jackpot class.  Additionally, Tim was given the honor of handling half-Arabian mare Citrine for Greg and Melinda Lear of Scio, OR and came home with another Top Ten in the two-year-old jackpot.  The pretty palomino mare was ranked third overall by a margin of .3pts.  Needless to say, team CP will be looking to 2008 to make a return trip and hopefully come home with more awards.

Region 17 Championship

CP horses made the trek north recently to the Region 17 Championship show in Langley BC Canada.  The weather cooperated and the large facility with many outdoor warm up rings was the perfect backdrop for the show.  Making the cut in the pre-show were: Gypsy Serenade CP in Arabian Mares Sport Horse in Hand, AMK Bonito Boy in Arabian Stallions Sport Horse in Hand, Lucky Gold Penny in Half-Arabian Mares Sport Horse in Hand, and Twist and Shout FCF++// in Half-Arabian Geldings Sport Horse in Hand and western pleasure open.  From there it was on to the Regionals themselves and the quality of horses was high as was the friendly nature of the show staff and exhibitors alike.  Congratulations to Lucky Gold Penny who earned a Top 5 in Sport Horse in Hand as well as to Twist and Shout FCF++// who came home with Top 5 in Open Western Pl with Tim, Top 5 AATR with Rachel and Champion AAOTR 18-39 with Rachel.  All in all a good showing and as always we love to show off the lovely horses of Command Performance.

Not only were are "A" team horses busy in early August, but it was also fair time for our riders who show and participate in 4-H. Big congratulations to Andrina Hiemann and three year old CP Get A Lode A This who earned Grand Champion honors in the green horse under saddle division as well as blues in all other divisions.  Our congrats to Jeff Wallace also who earned Grand Champion in the Novice rider division with QH "Packer" in their first year together.  Also making us proud was Jordan Raften on her paint gelding who earned Grand Champion honors in Intermediate Showmanship, Meghan McCaige with Reserve Champion honors in Senior Saddleseat, Trey McCaige earning blue in Senior Showmanship, Brooke Hendrickson with blue in western eq, Alex Pierce with blues in Intermediate Showmanship & Trail.  Other riders who went, but I don't know their placings include: Kelsey Brusseau, Kathryn Finn & Maddie Rooney.  I apologize profusely if I've left anyone out — please know we are proud of you all for your hard work and efforts.

Region V

CP Horses and Riders returned from the Region 5 show with many good rides and some good placings.  Although several horses were out of the money, all turned in good rides and many made the judge's cards.  We are proud of all of our horses and riders and thank those clients who've entrusted us with their horses and allow us to show them off.  Congratulations to Rachel and Twist and Shout FCF+// on their Top 5 in Western Pl AOTR and Res. Champion in Western Pl AAOTR 18-39.

Region IV

Congratulations to Andrina Hiemann and Twist and Shout FCF+// on their Top 5 in Half-Arabian Western Pl JTR!

World Show

Congratulations on big World Show wins for pinto saddlebred gelding Class Dismissed to ended his first World Show with two World Championships, one Reserve Championship, four Top 5 honors and one Top 10 honor.  He is proudly owned by Angela Burckhard and we are so proud of them and thank them for the opportunity to show this wonderful gelding.

Pre-Fair Show

The youth riders of CP who show in 4-H made an impressive showing over Father's Day weekend at the local pre-fair show.  CC Swanson and her half-Arab mare "Maxi" earned Grand Champion in western eq., Jeff Wallace and QH gelding "Packer" earned Grand Champion in Intermediate Novice rider western eq, 2nd in trail and 4th in showmanship and Kathryn Finn and QH mare "Swinger" earned blues in all events.  Congratulations to all of them and continued success as they prepare for the fair in August.

CP also celebrated another big win in the sport horse in hand division as Tim's mare Lucky Gold Penny earned the title of Reserve Champion half-Arab mare at the Region 4 show.  In addition, Tim catch led a half-Arab gelding to Reserve Champion honors in his division as well.

To make sure he stayed busy, Tim went right from the Region 4 Sport Horse show to Tulsa, OK for the Pinto World Show where he was showing saddlebred gelding Class Dismissed for owner Angela Burckhard.  Thus far "Skeeter" has taken the world by storm earning a Top 10 in Amateur English Ideal Pinto (the first saddle type to break into the Top 10 in this class in 5 years!), Top 5 in Open Halter with Tim, Top 5 in Open English with Tim, and World Champion in Amateur English with Angela.  Congratulations to all of them!

Mid-Summer Classic Arabian Show

photo photo

It was another successful show weekend for Team CP as we travelled to Puyallup for the Mid-Summer Classic Arabian Show.  The stalls were all filled, the competition was good and the people friendly.  There was a dog show going on at the same time, so many exhibitors were seen checking out the canine competition as well.  Congratulations to Rachel and Twist and Shout FCF+// on their Res. Champion in Amateur Western Pl.  Others who showed well and came home with ribbons to show for their efforts were: Kila Adams and Kilas Destiny showing in Equitation and Country Pl, EA Aristansk owned by Patty Chapman who debuted in Native Costume, Linda Boire's gelding ES Painted Profile showing in Western Pl., and Tami Todd showing her HL Rhembrant in Western Pl  Everyone showed well and now we're all geared up for Region 5 in early July!

May/June Open Show

A group of CP riders attended a back to back open show buckle series on Memorial Day weekend and the following weekend.  Only one rider was able to go for the buckles and boy did she ever!  Huge congratulations go to Jordan Raften and her pretty paint gelding on their two buckles and countless blues and awards.  The duo competed successfully in halter, showmanship, English pl & English eq on Saturday and trail, western pl and horsemanship on Sunday.  Congrats to them!  Also showing was CP Get A Lode A This, a three-year-old half-Arab gelding owned by the Hiemann family who will be a futurity contender with Tim this summer.  Another blue ribbon winning newcomer to the show ring was youth Jeff Wallace with his pinto gelding "Cyber" competing in saddleseat.  Youth rider Kayla also showed well in English on paint gelding "Taxi".  A couple of adult amateurs also made the trip and did well — congratulations to Tami Todd and her Arabian gelding "Rhembrandt" and to Rachel with "Buffy".

2006 Region 5 Sport Horse Championships

The 2006 Regional season started on a great note for the horses of Command Performance.  The off site Championships were held for the second year in a row at Donida Farm in Auburn, WA.  We took seven horses and came home with several honors.  We are very proud of all of our horses and thank their owners for giving us the opportunity to show these gorgeous animals.  Congratulations to Top 5 Stallion Philosophee owned by Judi Hamblen, Res. Champion (at two) Stallion AMK Bonito Boy owned by Steve Harding & Julie Welsand, Champion Half-Arab Gelding Twist and Shout FCF+// and Champion Half-Arab Mare (with the highest score of the entire show) Lucky Gold Penny.  All of them were shown beautifully by Tim Wigren.

Rachel & Twist And Shout FCF+//

Congratulations to Rachel Wigren and Twist And Shout FCF+// who earned his Legion of Excellence recently.  He has accumulated points in halter (open & amateur), sport horse in hand, hunter pl (amateur), horsemanship, western sidesaddle, western equitation, and western pl (open, youth and amateur).  We are so proud of the big blonde brat and thank everyone who has supported us along the way!

Cascade Youth Benefit Show

The CP group headed for fun in the sun at the Cascade Youth Benefit Show over Mother's Day weekend and came home with lots of ribbons.  The show was small, but fun and a great learning experience for several of our horses and/or riders who were making their "A" show debuts.  One of Tim's lesson students, Tami Todd, and her 20-year-old purebred gelding Rhembrandt joined us for their debut in western pleasure and earned thirds in good size classes which qualified them for Regionals.  While up north, Tami also purchased her newest project—a Khadraj son named Aspens Khossack who she hopes will be her next western pleasure star.  Another "A" show debut for NF Maximum Gold and youth rider CC Swanson in Horsemanship, Western Pl, and Showmanship where they earned blues all around.  Tim then showed the mare to second in a nice size Sport Horse Mares class.  The winner of the Sport Horse Mares was Tim's own mare Lucky Gold Penny who also won both of her Country Pl classes with Tim.

Daffodil (DAHA) Spring Show

Another mighty CP contingency made it's way to Puyallup the last weekend in April for the Daffodil Arabian Show.  The show itself was good sized (in fact, I hear they ran out of stalls), and the weather served to keep us on our toes!  Friday was warm and sunny then the showers predicted for Saturday turned into a torrential downpour and steady rain all day followed by Sunday of clearer skies with sun breaks.  The rides themselves were a bit more predictable thank goodness!  Big congratulations to youth rider Dove Rantala on her Championship ride on purebred gelding Kkavalier as well as to youth rider Andrina Hiemann on her Res. Champion ride on half-Arab gelding Twist and Shout FCF+//.  Pinto/half-Arab gelding ES Painted Profile also turned in impressive performances in western (the things learned at the Becker clinic really showed in "Normans" classes) as well.  Unfortunately our other youth rider, Kila Adams, was suffering from strep and had to pull out of the show.  We're happy to report she's doing much better, however, and ready for the next show!

Brett Becker Clinic

Brett Becker's visit to CP was met with lots of enthusiasm by riders and auditors alike, and we were not disappointed.  Brett had lots to share and teach despite still recovering from a foot broken in Scottsdale.  He rode several of the horses and had one of his students, Brianna York, ride one also.  Brianna is from the Corvallis, OR area and has shown in Regions 4 & 5 for years.  She rides and works at Brett's place in California and has racked up an impressive array of wins in the western and hunter pleasure divisions in the past few years.  All in all, nine horses participated in the clinic.  Most were Arab or half-Arab, but we did have one paint gelding join the group.  Experience levels ranged from just started three year olds and youngsters to horses transitioning to the bit to show horses tuning up to be more competitive at the Regional and National levels.  The riders ran the gamut of experience level as well from local and 4-H youth riders to those with Regional and National wins.  Brett gave everyone more than enough to work on and it was great to see the various horse and rider combinations improve throughout the weekend.  Definitely a great experience and one we'll likely have again!

NW Heritage Show

It was another fun and successful show for Team CP.  We headed to Spanaway for the NW Heritage Show on April 6-9 and came home with lots to show for our efforts.  Purebred mare Gypsy Serenade made her show ring debut at 15 coming home with a win in Sport Horse In Hand.  She is owned by Linda Boire who also owns half-Arabian gelding ES Painted Profile who debuted with CP in Western Pleasure and came home with several ribbons and increasingly lovely rides.  Stallion WH Alimanor continued his champion streak coming home with Champion honors in halter where he was shown by owner Jessica Magalhaes as well as Champion in Country Pleasure with Tim.  Tim also was the proud leadline partner to son Tanner who rode Tim's half-Arabian mare Lucky Gold Penny.  Also making a show ring debut was Egyptian stallion SF Shahqwave who placed well in a large Sport Horse In Hand class and made owner Lisa Hubbard and the rest of us proud.  The youth were also busy in the ring.  Rider Kila Adams rode half-Arabian gelding Kilas Destiny (owned by her grandmother Carol Adams) to Reserve Champion honors in Country Pleasure ATR as well as finishing second in the Saddleseat Medal class.  The winner of the medal class was another CP student — we send more congrats to Dove Rantala and her purebred gelding Kkavalier.  All in all it was a fun and busy show, but with everyone there to help out and support one another it was a good time.

Rally In The Valley

Team CP returned home following a very successful first "A" show of the year at the Rally in the Valley held in Eugene OR.  Just getting to the show took a degree of skill and luck with windy and snowy conditions, but once there CP horses and riders heated up the ring.  Congratulations go to CP Get A Lode A This (bred by CP and now owned by Leza & Andrina Hiemann) on his "A" ring debut earning Champion honors in Half-Arab Gelding Halter with Tim at the lead.  More debuts as WH Alimanor made his performance debut in Arabian Country Pleasure taking home the Champion title and earning lots of attention along the way.  Rounding out the championship weekend was NC Vice Chairman who earned his title with rider/owner Angela Nemjo in Half-Arabian Country Pl AATR.  Missing the top honors this time, but still managing to qualify and place in good size classes with Rachel Wigren in amateur and Andrina Hiemann in JTR was half-Arabian western horse Twist and Shout FCF+/.  Congratulations to everyone who attended, worked hard, braved the cold, and managed to have some fun all at the same time!

Mid-February Schooling Show

Another fun group of CP horses and riders showed in Olympia at a good sized Mid-February schooling show and turned in good rides while supporting one another.  Making his show ring debut in hunter pl was stallion SF Shahqwave owned by Tom & Lisa Hubbard and shown by Tim.  Also showing was PT One in a Million a paint gelding shown by his youth owner Blake Loera, amateur rider Mishele Loera and Tim in Western Pl.  More success in western pleasure came to half-Arab/Pinto gelding "Norman" shown by his owner Lin Boire as well as by Tim.  Rachel Wigren was busy on her palomino gelding "Buffy" in western pleasure and student Megan McCaige made her debut with her new pinto/half-Arab gelding "Cocomo".  Congratulations to everyone who showed — we're proud of your successes and hard work.

Brett Becker Coming To CP

Brett Becker is coming to Command Performance!  CP will host a clinic by Brett Becker April 23-24, 2006.  Anyone who is even a little bit familiar with the western and hunter pleasure divisions at the national level will be more than familiar with the name Brett Becker!  His horses and students have racked up an amazing number of wins in recent years and we are pleased to have him come and share his knowledge with us.  Limited riding spaces are available on a first come basis with stalls available for out of town guests.  There is also the opportunity to watch and learn.  For more information please contact .

First Schooling Show of the Year

Team CP started 2006 off with some fun and big successes at NWEEC in Boring, OR.  We had a good size group of youngsters, novices, and horses to tune up.  It was a lot of fun and the rain even let up on Sunday for us which was a real treat.  Two of Tim's lesson kids, Nicolette & Ellie Nesbit showed their pintos in English as did a friend of theirs who debuted with her mom's 21 year old Arab gelding and came home with lots of blue!  Others who showed were Andrina and her 3 year old "Lodi" who made his show ring debut under saddle placing high in large classes, Pam with pinto "Mack" who have come such a long way this year and are really getting the hang of the double bridle, Angela with her mom's paint mare "Sissy" who's always fun to watch, "Chance" with his owner who hadn't gotten to see him for almost a month, "Sunni" the buckskin QH mare with youth rider Alex Pierce who gets better everytime and "Buffy" who got a tune-up with Rachel, Andrina and Tim as well as Tanner in leadline.  All in all a fun weekend and a great start to the season.  Up next, Feb 11 at the Trails in Olympia.
